The Story of TDA
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Dr. Sandy Chung, past President of the American Academy of Pediatrics, for nearly 20 years. Early in her career as a leader, Sandy invited me to join our local medical society’s executive board, assembling a team to push forward an ambitious agenda—including a regional, clinically integrated database to share patient information and improve care. Though that project was ahead of its time and ultimately not successful, it revealed something important: Sandy’s visionary leadership and her drive to innovate in support of better care for kids.
From that first experience, I learned to always say “yes” when Sandy reached out. Over the years, we’ve partnered on countless boards and initiatives, including the Virginia Mental Health Access Program, which now benefits thousands of children across the state.
Like Sandy, I’ve been deeply passionate about supporting independent practices—because I know firsthand the challenges we face as practice owners. That shared passion led Sandy to tap me once again, this time to help build Trusted Doctors Alliance (TDA).
Why TDA Is Different
While there are many Group Purchasing Organizations and Vaccine Buying Groups, TDA is distinctly not just a buying group, it is fundamentaly different:
Practitioner-Owned & Led: We are an organization built by practicing clinicians who understand the realities of running a practice.
A True Community: TDA is a safe haven for independent practices to connect, share ideas, and strengthen each other.
Mission-Driven, Not Profit-Driven: Our goal is not maximizing profits—it’s maximizing savings for our members, covering only the costs needed to run the organization.
Comprehensive Solutions: While many agreements are already in place, we’re rapidly expanding our partnerships—including vaccine purchasing—to cover every aspect of running a practice efficiently.
We are not an outside entity. We are you. We’re practice owners who’ve faced the same struggles and built TDA as a solution.
